Tron Quietly Dominates Stablecoin Settlements
The Tron network has quietly become one of the most heavily used blockchains in the digital asset market, driven by its focus on speed, cost, and settlement efficiency.
Tron uses a delegated proof-of-stake consensus mechanism, where TRX holders stake their tokens to gain voting power and elect 27 Super Representatives, who are responsible for producing blocks and maintaining the network.
The single most important development in Tron's evolution has been its emergence as the leading settlement network for stablecoins, particularly Tether's USDT. A substantial share of global USDT circulation now resides on Tron, positioning it as digital payment rails for dollars.
Weekly transaction counts on Tron have climbed to record highs, approaching 100 million transactions per week, with an average onchain transaction fee falling to around seven cents, a multiyear low. Stablecoin transfer volume on Tron has grown alongside this activity, recently running at roughly $150 billion to $190 billion per week.
