Tron's $30 Trillion Milestone Fails to Budge TRX Price
Tron has reached a milestone in its lifetime transfers, settling over $30 trillion. However, despite this significant growth, the price of TRX has remained stagnant, trading at $0.34 for almost exactly a year.
This achievement comes as Tron DAO announced that the network had grown to over 405 million accounts and 15 billion transactions in eight years. The chain's foundation noted that it was clearing over $30 billion in daily volume just hours after the announcement, with founder Justin Sun sharing the news on X.
But while the numbers are impressive, they don't necessarily reflect an increase in demand for TRX itself. In fact, the majority of value moving on Tron is actually dollars, given that it hosts $92.6 billion of Tether's USDT. This represents 50.4% of the token's $183.7 billion supply and about $19 billion more than Ethereum's share.
Over the past year, daily transactions have increased from 9.54 million to 11.35 million, and daily active accounts from 3.01 million to 4.30 million. However, daily USDT transfers slipped from 2.43 million to 2.26 million year on year, even as the USDT float grew by billions.
In comparison, Bitcoin's price has fallen 22.8% over the same period, making TRX a relatively stable investment choice. Nevertheless, the network is working on bigger-picture upgrades, including a post-quantum security plan that Sun unveiled this year.
