TRON’s stablecoin settlement business saw significant growth in the third quarter of 2026, while the supply of its native TRX token continued to expand for 108 consecutive days. The blockchain network added 125.8 million TRX in Q3 and another 22.9 million over the first 16 days of October, after accounting for burned tokens. TRON’s design allows for this dual growth, as reusable resources can cover network activity while block-production and voting rewards continue to mint new TRX.
TRON DAO Research reported $2.2126 trillion in Q3 stablecoin settlement, marking a 5.1% increase from Q2. Despite this growth, the TRX supply kept expanding into October. The network’s resource rules meter transaction size and computation, with Bandwidth covering recorded bytes and Energy covering smart-contract execution. Users can obtain these resources by staking TRX or receiving delegated resources from other accounts.
Over October 1-16, burns offset approximately 63.5% of new issuance. To reach supply balance, burns would have needed to increase by 57.5%, or issuance would have needed to decrease by 36.5%. The scale of Q3’s net addition amounted to approximately 0.133% of the opening supply of about 94.850 billion TRX. Stablecoin supply, on the other hand, grew to $93.88 billion, up 5.5% from Q2.
The network’s economics affect different users differently. A resource user, a staker, and a passive token holder experience the network’s dynamics in distinct ways. While resource users pay for transaction capacity, stakers supply stake and may vote for rewards, and passive holders see no automatic increase in their balances merely because the network issues more TRX.
