Truflation Challenges Official CPI Figures with Lower Reading

Truflation's US Consumer Price Index (CPI) reading for July 27, 2026, was significantly lower than the official figure from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. According to Truflation, CPI came in at 2.11%, a full percentage point below the BLS's 3.5% year-over-year rate.

The disparity between the two measurements can be attributed to differences in methodology. The BLS uses a fixed basket of goods with weightings adjusted on a longer cycle, while Truflation aggregates data from tens of millions of real-time price points, updating its index daily.

Truflation's TruCPI-US reading has consistently come in lower than official statistics and tends to lead BLS releases by approximately 41-45 days. The company updated its annual CPI weightings for the US, Argentina, and UK indices in 2026, reflecting current consumer spending patterns more dynamically.

The TRUF token powers the network's core functions: governance, staking, and network fees. However, a security breach in 2024 resulted in losses of approximately $5 million.
