Trump-Backed Crypto Firm Linked to Chinese AI Models Amid Washington's Restrictions

Share

A US-based cryptocurrency company backed by President Donald Trump has formed a business relationship with a Hong Kong-based platform that offers access to AI models developed by Chinese technology companies. World Liberty Financial, the crypto venture tied to the Trump family, is partnering with WorldClaw, which provides access to dozens of AI models, including those from Alibaba, Baidu, and Z.ai.

The partnership comes at a sensitive time for Washington's technology policy, as the Trump administration seeks to limit China's access to advanced AI technology. Nearly half of the AI models available through WorldClaw are developed by Chinese companies that have been placed on US government lists over national security or military-related concerns.

World Liberty Financial has a financial interest in this partnership, as its USD1 stablecoin and WLFI token are accepted as payment by WorldClaw. This arrangement creates a striking contrast between the commercial activities associated with Trump's crypto interests and his administration's approach towards Chinese technology.
