Trump-Backed Crypto Venture Grows Rich, Falls Short on Promises
World Liberty Financial, the cryptocurrency venture co-founded by Donald Trump Jr. and his business partners, has seen significant growth while its ambitious plans have largely fallen short.
In a promotional event at Manhattan's Jazz at Lincoln Center concert hall last year, World Liberty announced plans to expand into lending, stablecoins, tokenized US Treasuries, and stocks.
The company accumulated tokens from other crypto projects, eventually gathering them into what it called a 'strategic token reserve.'
This reserve was intended to provide a 'robust financial backbone' for the venture, which Trump co-founded with his sons and business partners in the weeks before the 2024 election.
