Trump-Backed Crypto Venture Ties Payments to Chinese AI Models Under US Scrutiny
The World Liberty AI partnership has sparked controversy in Washington's tech standoff with Beijing. The deal links World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency venture backed by the Trump family, to WorldClaw, a Hong Kong-based artificial intelligence aggregator.
The partnership allows users to access dozens of AI models through WorldRouter, including several built by Chinese firms currently flagged by US regulators for national security concerns.
US restrictions shadow the Chinese AI models inside WorldClaw. Several developers whose models are available through WorldRouter are already under federal scrutiny, including Alibaba and Baidu, which have been designated as companies with ties to the Chinese military.
The Trump family owns 38% of World Liberty Financial and has earned more than $1.4 billion from token transactions tied to the platform. The family's cryptocurrency earnings totaled $2.3 billion in June, with over $1.4 billion coming from World Liberty token transactions alone.
