President Donald Trump has escalated his trade war with Canada by warning Canadian jet manufacturer Bombardier that it cannot sell its planes in the U.S. unless it builds them here.

The threat was made on Truth Social, hours before Canada's retaliatory tariffs on a range of U.S. products were set to take effect on Tuesday.

'NO MORE SELLING BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES!' Trump wrote, claiming that Canada 'blocked' Gulfstream, a subsidiary of Virginia-based General Dynamics, from doing business there.

Bombardier spokesperson Matthew Nicholls said the company would respond shortly to Trump's threat. The Canadian government has imposed tariffs ranging from 15% to 50% on hundreds of U.S. products worth $27.6 billion in response to 50% tariffs Trump imposed on Canadian goods in July.
