Trump Buys into Crypto with $50K-100K Strategy Share Purchase
US President Donald Trump has disclosed purchasing between $50,001 and $100,000 worth of Strategy shares in July, according to a US Office of Government Ethics filing. This is his largest previously disclosed purchase of Strategy shares, which is the world's largest publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holder.
The filing also shows that Trump bought Coinbase stock and sold Bitcoin miners MARA Holdings and CleanSpark in July. The Strategy purchase was a small part of his broader portfolio activity in July, with sales of $5 million to $25 million each of Microsoft and Amazon stocks on July 20.
Strategy shares have rallied nearly 30% over the past five trading days and about 37% over the past month. The administration's crypto push has also extended to Bitcoin itself, with the House Financial Services Committee voting to advance legislation that would codify Trump's Strategic Bitcoin Reserve into law.
