TRUMP Coin Gala Sparks Caution Amid Historical Price Drop Patterns
The 2026 gala for top holders of the TRUMP (CRYPTO: TRUMP) coin is scheduled to take place at Trump National Washington, D.C., with the top 29 holders receiving VIP access. The event will feature President Donald Trump as a speaker, and the top four VIPs will receive an 18-karat gold Trump watch. The qualification for the event is based on time-weighted holdings, meaning both the amount held and how long it's been held count towards the ranking. The final snapshot will take place on November 12.
History suggests that holders may want to be cautious, as past events have followed a similar script. The first TRUMP dinner in April 2025 sent the token price from $9 to $14.40, a 60% jump, before it eased back to $13.40. However, the price had already slipped to $14.25 by the following day's dinner, and then fell more than 14% to $13 within 24 hours. The second gala in 2026 showed an even sharper drop in enthusiasm, with trading volume falling by 89%, median VIP qualifying holdings dropping by 84%, and the price fully reversing its announcement rally by the contest's April 14 close.
The project has disclosed plans to deploy, sell, or otherwise monetize up to 9.6% of the total token supply from already-unlocked inventory over the following months, which could offset any buying tied to gala qualification. Additionally, VIPs who drop below their snapshot holdings before November 22 will lose bonus rewards, but still keep their dinner seat. This gives qualifying holders some incentive to hold through the snapshot, but nothing stops them from selling once the rewards stop outweighing the payout from exiting.
