Trump Ditches Skepticism for Bitcoin, Now Sees It as a 'Pressure Reliever' for the US Dollar
President Donald Trump's stance on Bitcoin has undergone a significant shift. In July 2019, he expressed skepticism about cryptocurrencies, calling their value 'thin air.' He also stated that unregulated crypto assets can facilitate unlawful behavior and that the US dollar is America's only 'real currency.'
At the time, one BTC was worth $11,815.99. Fast forward to August 2026, and the asset's price has skyrocketed to $77,525 - a staggering increase of 556%. A $1,000 investment would have grown into $6,561 today.
In contrast to his previous views, Trump now openly endorses cryptocurrency and aims to make the US the 'Crypto Capital.' He supports clear regulations for the asset class and has signed an Executive Order to establish a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. The reserve will develop budget-neutral strategies for acquiring additional BTC.
