Trump Eyes Former SEC Chair for AI Czar Role
Donald Trump is considering Jay Clayton for the role of White House AI Czar. The appointment would give Trump's AI policy a national security and regulatory focus, according to Reuters.
Jay Clayton currently serves as the U.S. Director of National Intelligence and previously held the position of SEC Chair from May 2017 to December 2020.
As SEC Chair, Clayton oversaw the agency during the development of the crypto market, including initial coin offerings (ICOs) and other digital assets. The SEC charged over 2,750 enforcement actions and secured more than $14 billion in financial remedies during his tenure.
