Trump Family's Crypto Venture Linked to Blacklisted China Tech Through AI Marketplace
WorldClaw, an AI marketplace based in Hong Kong, is generating revenue for the Trump family's crypto venture, World Liberty Financial. The platform offers dozens of AI models from firms including Alibaba, Baidu, and Z.ai, all of which are subject to varying degrees of federal restriction.
According to Reuters, 43 out of the roughly 90 AI models available on WorldClaw were developed by companies restricted by the U.S. government. The Trump family earns revenue whenever customers use World Liberty tokens and is entitled to a percentage of interest earned on the assets backing USD1, the stablecoin issued by World Liberty Financial.
World Liberty makes money directly from the use of its USD1 stablecoin, and the Trump family owns 38% of the company. Donald Trump Jr. promoted WorldClaw on X, saying he would personally meet contest winners at Mar-a-Lago in Florida. Eric Trump has described the collaboration between World Liberty and WorldClaw as 'the future of finance.'
Sam Bresnick told Reuters that the arrangement appears hypocritical because the U.S. government is responding to the threat of Chinese AI while WorldClaw uses Chinese tools to make money.
