Trump Forms Super Intelligence Force to Lead US AI Efforts
US President Donald Trump has announced the formation of a 'Super Intelligence Force' to coordinate the federal government's efforts in artificial intelligence. The task force, led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, aims to protect American interests and improve citizens' lives as AI technology develops.
The Super Intelligence Force will engage with various stakeholders, including consumers, public interest groups, and AI companies, to ensure the responsible development and use of AI. This effort is seen as a response to the rapid advancements in AI, which Trump compared to the Industrial Revolution and the arrival of the internet.
The White House meeting that preceded the announcement brought together executives from leading tech companies, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, Nvidia, and Elon Musk's SpaceXAI. The companies signed a voluntary safety accord, committing to four layers of controls and audits to ensure their AI models behave as intended.
The Super Intelligence Force will report directly to Trump and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. The announcement follows reporting that Clayton was likely to be selected for the administration's top AI role.
