Trump-Linked Account Rugs Solana-Based GOLD Token for $312K Profit
The Solana-based GOLD token has been identified as another example of a rug-pull scheme. Fifteen newly created wallets, possibly linked to President Trump's realtrumpcoins account on X, spent $18,657 to buy up 224.5 million GOLD tokens, giving insiders control of 82.45% of the supply.
These wallets then sold their entire position for 3,178 SOL, worth around $330,000 at the time, resulting in a 17x return and a profit of $312,000. Retail traders who bought in during the brief run-up were not as lucky, with one wallet losing $62,100 in minutes as the token's price collapsed.
The tactics employed by realtrumpcoins are similar to those used by another developer last year, who livestreamed a fabricated terminal illness to pump a token called 120 Hours and drain its liquidity pool live on stream. The official TRUMP token has also been under scrutiny for an alleged illegal scheme involving insiders' outsized token allocation.
