Trump-Linked Crypto Firm Partners with Restricted Chinese AI Venture
World Liberty Financial, a crypto industry company co-founded by Alex and Zach Witkoff, has entered into a partnership with Hong Kong-based AI venture WorldClaw. The partnership raises concerns about the involvement of Chinese companies restricted by the US government in sensitive technologies. These companies include Alibaba, Baidu, and Z.ai, among others.
The partnership was revealed through a Reuters report, which found that around half of the AI models offered by WorldClaw are owned by or originate from these Chinese companies. This has sparked concerns about national security and potential ties to the Chinese military.
World Liberty Financial received a conditional de novo national trust banking charter from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), allowing it to establish a domestic US national trust bank. The OCC is a regulatory agency operating under the US Treasury Department.
