Trump Media Clarifies Bitcoin Transfers Were Not Sales
Trump Media and Technology Group (NASDAQ: DJT), operator of Truth Social, has clarified that recent large transfers of Bitcoin to Crypto.com were not sales. The company's spokesperson confirmed that the approximately $165 million worth of BTC was moved to the exchange but remained in custody.
The two transactions totaling 2,628 BTC, valued at around $63,000 per coin, were documented on-chain over the weekend. Analytics platforms like Lookonchain highlighted the movement and suggested it could be a sale, but blockchain data only verifies the transfer of assets to the exchange, not any subsequent disposal or trade.
Crypto.com has served as one of the designated custodians for Trump Media's bitcoin treasury program since its launch in 2025, alongside Anchorage Digital. The company held approximately 4,261 BTC worth around $268 million after the latest transfers, which closely corresponds to the 4,260.73 BTC previously reported as pledged collateral for its convertible notes.
Trump Media accumulated over 11,000 BTC as part of a broader digital asset treasury strategy financed through equity offerings and convertible notes. The company's shares have traded lower in recent sessions, while Bitcoin has shown volatility around the $63,000 level.
