Trump Media Sells $165M of BTC at $145M Loss Amid Ongoing Market Pressure
Trump Media and Technology Corp has continued to reduce its Bitcoin exposure in an attempt to minimize losses. The company had initially invested $1.368 billion in BTC at an average price of $118,529, but since then, the value of these holdings has declined significantly.
As a result, Trump Media has sold 2,628 BTC worth $165.07 million, incurring a loss of $145 million. This sale brings the total losses to $318 million on its Bitcoin holdings, which is currently valued at up to $555 million below its initial investment.
The decline in Bitcoin's value has also affected investor confidence in Trump Media's stock, with a 25% drop in the company's stock price over the past year and 25% so far this year.
Other institutional investors are also selling their BTC holdings due to mounting losses. KULR Technology has sold 921 BTC and is now holding only 100 BTC, while AMBCrypto reported that the company may sell all its remaining Bitcoin holdings.
The total value of Bitcoin treasuries held by companies since their 2025 highs has declined by over $49 billion, leading to a bearish market structure in Bitcoin. The Coinbase Premium Index has remained negative since May and has only recorded a positive value for 35 days this year, indicating pressure from institutions on the cryptocurrency's price.
