TRUMP Memecoin Dinner Sparks Ethics Probes Amid Congressional Scrutiny
President Donald Trump's TRUMP memecoin is again at the center of controversy as organizers plan a third invitation-only dinner, this time at Trump National Golf Club outside Washington. The event, scheduled for November 22, promises to be an ultra-exclusive gathering for the token's biggest holders, with the top 185 addresses on a time-weighted leaderboard receiving invitations.
The top 29 holders will receive a VIP reception, and the top four will be gifted an 18-karat Trump-branded gold watch. Guests will also receive fragrance, a commemorative poster, a trading card, and a branded watch.
Democrats have framed the series of coin-linked galas as a political vulnerability, with Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut telling Bloomberg that Trump is 'helping put corruption on the ballot.' Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware bluntly stated, 'This is corruption.'
These events have already had a significant impact on the crypto industry, with the Senate's failure to advance the CLARITY Act last month due in part to language tied to the president's crypto businesses.
