Trump Praises Micron's 'Hottest' Investment in US Research Labs
President Donald Trump has praised Micron Technology (MU) as one of the 'HOTTEST' companies in the world, following a $10 billion investment in new US research labs. The chipmaker plans to invest this sum over the next decade, focusing on memory supply chain research. When combined with its previous commitment of more than $250 billion through 2035, Trump said this will create tens of thousands of American jobs.
Micron Research Labs aims to bring together academia, government, the chip industry, and customers under one roof to advance semiconductor architecture and manufacturing. This is crucial as AI infrastructure demand grows. The research campus in Boise, Idaho is expected to break ground next year, with a flagship campus planned for the area.
Trump referenced Micron's previous $250 billion commitment, which was driven by surging demand for AI memory chips. He said that companies are investing 'TRILLIONS' due to his administration's policies. Micron stock ended Thursday's regular session down 0.48%, extending losses in after-hours trading.
