Trump Reiterates US Commitment to Cryptocurrency Leadership, Urges Passage of CLARITY Act
President Donald Trump reiterated his commitment to preserving US leadership in Bitcoin and cryptocurrency at a White House summit on Wednesday. He emphasized that the U.S. is currently the 'hottest country' in the world and urged Congress to pass the CLARITY Act, which he believes will keep the US ahead of China.
The CLARITY Act aims to provide regulatory clarity for the crypto space, potentially boosting innovation and investment. Trump also congratulated CFTC Chairman Michael Selig on his efforts to bring decentralized exchange Hyperliquid into the US in a compliant manner.
Regarding the administration's plans to accumulate Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies, Trump stated that he would rely on SEC Chairman Paul Atkins and others for recommendations. He acknowledged that Bitcoin has taken pressure off the dollar but noted that any decision on acquiring crypto assets would be made after reviewing expert advice.
