Trump Secures Morally Binding AI Agreement with Tech Executives
US President Donald Trump has secured a 'morally binding' agreement from top tech executives to establish guardrails around artificial intelligence. The deal, known as the Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities, was forged during a White House luncheon with industry leaders.
The agreement outlines a framework for AI companies to implement internal safety monitoring, empower internal teams, conduct external audits, and have independent boards review reports. Signatories include Sundar Pichai of Google, Elon Musk of SpaceX, Mark Zuckerberg of Meta, Jensen Huang of Nvidia, Dario Amodei of Anthropic, and Greg Brockman of OpenAI.
However, the agreement lacks enforcement mechanisms or legal implications, making it a voluntary commitment carried out in good faith. Microsoft's Satya Nadella was notably absent from the list of signatories, as he has expressed concerns about closed AI modelmakers and warned enterprises about paying twice for such solutions.
