Trump Set to Host Mining Executives at State Department Roundtable
US President Donald Trump is set to attend a miners' roundtable at the US State Department on Friday, bringing together mining executives for a closed-door discussion on domestic mining priorities. This event aligns with the administration's efforts to secure critical mineral supply chains and position the US as a global leader in digital asset mining.
The roundtable is seen as the domestic complement to the Critical Minerals Ministerial held in February, which brought together representatives from over 50 countries. The gathering produced multiple bilateral agreements and floated the idea of a preferential trading zone designed to undercut China's dominance in critical mineral markets.
Trump has been actively involved in promoting crypto mining within the US, signing an executive order establishing a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and a US Digital Asset Stockpile in March 2025. He also introduced the Mined in America Act, which aims to boost domestic digital asset mining operations and codify the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve into law.
While the roundtable is expected to focus on critical minerals and sustainable mining practices, the overlap between these policy tracks and crypto mining is hard to ignore. The Mined in America Act still needs to navigate the congressional process, and investors should watch for its progress in the coming months.
