Trump Touts US Leadership in Crypto and AI at White House Meeting
US President Donald Trump hosted cryptocurrency executives and financial regulators at the White House on Wednesday as his administration works to develop new rules governing digital assets. The meeting, which included representatives from major companies like Coinbase, Ripple, and Nasdaq, was attended by SEC Chair Paul Atkins and CFTC Chair Mike Selig.
Trump praised the group, saying 'We're delighted to welcome some of our nation's brightest minds in finance, crypto, and technology ahead of the first-ever meeting of the CFTC's Innovation Advisory Committee in Washington, D.C.' He added that 'The people in this room are ensuring that the future of commercial markets is pioneered and perfected right here in the USA.'
The President claimed the US is 'leading by a lot' in AI and cryptocurrency, saying it's fighting to control these markets. This comes as federal regulators advance a more crypto-friendly framework, with the SEC proposing rules that would exempt certain token offerings from securities regulations.
Trump has made support for digital assets a major part of his economic agenda since returning to the White House in 2025. The meeting also coincided with Congress debating broader cryptocurrency legislation intended to clarify how digital assets are regulated in the US.
