Trump-Xi Summit Won't Move XRP Needle, Says Analyst
XRP's price has stabilized at around $1.51 as the Trump-Xi summit takes place, but crypto commentator Cheeky Crypto argues that history suggests it won't have a significant impact on XRP.
Cheeky Crypto points to two prior instances where positive US-China outcomes failed to lift XRP: a 2025 meeting between Trump and Xi Jinping, where XRP traded around $2.60 before falling to $2.43 the next day despite a tariff cut announcement; and a 2026 Beijing trip by Trump, where XRP's price remained in the $1.30-$1.45 range despite optimistic language from leaders.
Cheeky Crypto attributes this lack of response to XRP to the fact that the summit agenda doesn't touch on XRP or related topics like ETFs or the XRP Ledger. Instead, broad risk appetite drives the connection, with Bitcoin often moving first and XRP following harder in both directions.
The analyst also notes that markets tend to price in summit outcomes weeks ahead, leaving much of the good news already reflected in prices by the time leaders meet. This sets up a classic sell-the-news reaction, which is exacerbated by the fact that spot buyers may be riding risk-on sentiment rather than real fund flows.
Cheeky Crypto identifies other near-term catalysts for XRP's price, including upcoming Fed speeches and key economic data releases, as well as an amendment activation, the Evernorth vote, and an October 1 escrow release. These events may have a more significant impact on XRP's price than the Trump-Xi summit.
XRP technical analysis shows that the asset is holding above major EMA levels and has a constructive momentum reading from its RSI indicator.
