Trump’s $5,000 Checks Could Boost Bitcoin and Crypto by Billions
US President Donald Trump has reiterated his pledge to distribute $5,000 checks to every adult American citizen if Republicans maintain control of Congress in the upcoming November elections. Analyst Crypto Rover believes this could inject significant liquidity into financial markets, particularly into Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. However, the proposal faces considerable political and economic challenges.
Crypto Rover argues that even if households primarily use the funds for bills, consumption, and debt, a small portion allocated to investments could create substantial new demand for crypto. He estimates that 5%-10% of a $1.2-$1.3 trillion liquidity injection could translate to $60 billion-$130 billion flowing into the crypto market. This is a lower figure than initially anticipated due to the adjusted cost of the program.
Despite the potential impact, several hurdles remain. Some Republicans have criticized the proposal, citing concerns over worsening the federal deficit and reigniting inflation. Additionally, Congress would need to authorize the spending, and recipients would have to choose to invest in crypto for the scenario to materialize. Crypto Rover acknowledges these uncertainties but suggests that the current market is better positioned to absorb retail capital than in previous stimulus cycles.
