Trump's $5,000 Checks Could Boost Bitcoin and Crypto Investments
US President Donald Trump has reiterated his pledge to distribute $5,000 checks to every adult American citizen if Republicans maintain control of Congress in the upcoming November elections. Analyst Crypto Rover believes this potential liquidity injection, though uncertain, could drive significant capital into Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. He argues that even a small portion of the funds allocated to investments could create substantial new demand for digital assets, estimating between $85 billion and $170 billion entering the market if 5%-10% of the $1.7 trillion liquidity injection is used for crypto investments.
The initial estimates of the program's cost have been revised downwards, with major news organizations now suggesting a likely expense of $1.2-$1.3 trillion. Even with this lower figure, Rover's projections suggest $60 billion-$130 billion could flow into crypto. He also highlights that the current market is better positioned to absorb retail capital due to spot ETFs, improved institutional infrastructure, and a more developed regulatory framework.
However, the plan faces significant hurdles. Several Republicans have expressed skepticism, citing concerns over worsening the federal deficit and reigniting inflation. Additionally, Congress would need to authorize the spending if Republicans win in November. Rover's scenario relies on multiple assumptions, including a GOP victory, congressional approval, the actual distribution of the checks, and recipients allocating a portion of the funds to crypto.
