Trump’s $5,000 Checks Could Boost Bitcoin by Billions
US President Donald Trump has reiterated his pledge to give every adult American citizen a $5,000 "dividend" if Republicans maintain control of Congress in the upcoming November elections. Analyst Crypto Rover has suggested that this potential liquidity injection, though uncertain, could drive billions of dollars into Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies.
Crypto Rover believes the impact on digital assets is being underestimated. He argues that while most households would likely use the money for bills, consumption, and debt, even a small portion allocated to investments could significantly boost demand for crypto. He estimates that 5%-10% of a $1.2-$1.3 trillion liquidity injection, down from the initially projected $1.7 trillion, could funnel $60 billion to $130 billion into the crypto market. Rover also notes that the current market is better positioned to absorb retail capital due to spot ETFs, institutional infrastructure, and a more developed regulatory framework.
However, the plan faces substantial hurdles. Some Republicans have criticized the proposal, warning that payments exceeding $1 trillion could worsen the federal deficit and reignite inflation. Additionally, Congress would need to authorize the spending if Republicans win in November. Crypto Rover’s scenario relies on several assumptions, including a GOP victory, congressional approval, actual distribution of the checks, and recipients investing even a small portion of the funds in crypto.
