Trump's $800 Million WLFI Stake Locked Until 2028
President Donald Trump's stake in World Liberty Financial's WLFI token has received a new timeline. According to on-chain data, his allocation of roughly $800 million is now subject to a vesting smart contract that sets May 2028 as the earliest date for any sale.
The contract was established after six wallets holding founder allocations transferred a combined 30 billion tokens into a newly deployed vesting contract on May 19. The largest wallet deposited 15.75 billion WLFI and retained 14.175 billion, matching Trump's publicly attributed allocation.
World Liberty Financial had published the specifications of the vesting mechanism weeks before the wallets entered the schedule, suggesting the move was not made in anticipation of the Clarity Act. However, the revised legislation has now put the question of what happens to Trump's stake directly into the legislative debate.
