Trump's AI Task Force Led by Crypto Crackdown Architect Jay Clayton
President Donald Trump has announced the creation of a 'Super Intelligence Force', a task force aimed at coordinating the federal government's efforts to stay ahead in artificial intelligence. The force will be led by Jay Clayton, the former chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), who has a polarizing record in the cryptocurrency space. Clayton's SEC brought 57 cases against crypto firms and individuals during his tenure, including a high-profile lawsuit against Ripple for $1.3 billion. He has since joined One River Asset Management as a crypto adviser and sat on the advisory board of Fireblocks.
Clayton's appointment as AI czar has sparked controversy, given his history of cracking down on cryptocurrency projects. Trump's announcement follows a meeting with major tech companies, where leaders confirmed their 'responsibilities to the American People'. The Super Intelligence Force will report directly to Trump and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles.
