Trump's Business Empire Booms with Crypto and Foreign Developments

Share

President Trump's business empire has seen a significant expansion in recent years, particularly since he became the presumptive Republican nominee for president in 2024. According to an analysis by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), Trump incorporated dozens of new companies in the lead-up to his second term, with many of them generating substantial revenue.

Between May 2016 and November 2020, Trump's business almost entirely stopped incorporating new businesses, with only two entities added during this time. However, once he took office, Trump formed four more companies that weren't tied to his existing businesses, including Trump Media and Technology Group, which was established in the final weeks of his first term.

But it wasn't until 2024 that Trump's business empire really took off, with him adding 12 new companies over a three-year period. This marked a significant increase from his pace during his last stint as a private citizen before entering public service. The majority of these new companies were tied to foreign developments in the UAE, Vietnam, and India.

In addition to these new companies, Trump has also been expanding his crypto business, with more than $797 million in revenue coming from this sector in 2025. This is a significant increase from his first term, where he reported making only a few hundred thousand dollars from all sources combined. The majority of this revenue came from memecoin royalties, with Trump holding two special events for holders of the useless product and offering special perks for investors.

The promotions paid off, with Trump reporting $635 million in memecoin royalties in 2025. However, hundreds of thousands of his loyal investors have lost billions collectively as the value of the memecoin collapsed.
