Trump's Crypto Bros Turn on Him as His Grift Machine Backfires

Share

President Donald Trump's crypto-friendly image has taken a hit among some of his strongest supporters, the so-called 'crypto bros'.

According to The Washington Post, several crypto streamer influencers, including Carl Runefelt, who celebrated Trump's presidency by buying meme coins, are now disappointed in the President.

'Trump was the hero in crypto, like, a couple of years ago, and now it's like the exact opposite,' Runefelt said.

The disappointment stems from Trump's use of crypto as a personal grift machine, as well as his efforts to cash out of his own crypto holdings from his own crypto company.

The Trump family's open and obvious corrupt crypto empire has also made it hard for congressional backers to push for the lightest possible regulatory touch, contributing to the failure of a crypto-friendly bill in Congress.
