Trump's Crypto Empire Blasted by John Oliver

Share

HBO host John Oliver criticized Donald Trump's growing crypto business on his show Last Week Tonight. According to Oliver, the president's family has earned more than $2.2 billion in its first year back in the White House, with nearly $1.4 billion coming from crypto-related businesses.

Oliver targeted Trump's meme coin projects, comparing them to 'pump-and-dump' schemes. The token briefly reached a market valuation of nearly $50 billion before crashing by 92%, but Oliver claimed Trump personally made around $636 million from the project.

Oliver also questioned the regulatory changes that followed Trump's return to office. He pointed out that more than 60% of ongoing crypto enforcement cases were either dropped or reduced after new Chairman Paul Atkins adopted a friendlier stance toward crypto.
