Trump's Crypto Empire Derails Regulatory Bill Amid Industry Frustration
The crypto industry had pinned its hopes on President Trump to bring clarity to the regulatory landscape. However, those expectations were dealt a blow when Republican senators failed to pass the Clarity Act in a key procedural vote.
The bill's failure was largely due to opposition from Democrats, who argued that it did not sufficiently prevent public officials from trading crypto. Sen. Elizabeth Warren stated that the bill would allow 'Have at it, Mr. President' and that this was 'fundamentally wrong.'
Despite the setback, some market participants remained optimistic, with David Mercer, CEO of LMAX Group, saying that regulatory clarity is a matter of when, not if.
