Trump's Crypto Profits Raise Conflict Questions Amid Regulation Push

Share

The White House is pushing for regulation of the cryptocurrency industry, but President Donald Trump's involvement in drafting regulations has raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest. The president and his family have profited significantly from the industry, with financial disclosures showing that he made nearly $1.5 billion from cryptocurrency last year.

Trump's profits came primarily from a single investment, the Trump Meme Coin, which has dropped 80% in value over the past year, from a peak of $635 million to around $127 million.

The president's actions have sparked criticism, with nearly two-thirds of Americans believing it is inappropriate for him and his family to profit from cryptocurrency while he is in office. Even among Republicans, three out of every ten believe this is unacceptable.
