Trump's Crypto Ties Blamed for CLARITY Act Failure
The crypto industry's biggest legislative push, the CLARITY Act, failed to advance due to concerns over President Donald Trump's ethics. Industry figures are pointing fingers at Trump's involvement in cryptocurrency ventures, which generated $1.4 billion in income last year.
Paradigm senior adviser Justin Slaughter said 'The failure of Clarity begins and ends with Donald Trump' specifically citing Trump's meme coin launch before his inauguration as a reason for the bill's demise.
Crypto industry leader Nic Carter, who has previously criticized Trump's World Liberty Financial venture, also stated that the president 'needlessly complicated' the legislative process by intertwining himself and his family with cryptocurrency.
However, some industry leaders are placing blame on Senate Democrats for the bill's failure. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse accused Democrats of putting politics ahead of US technology and innovation.
