Trump's Debt Legacy: A $1.4 Billion Bill for Future Generations

Since his reelection in November 2024, Donald Trump has made billions of dollars, but some of those earnings are shrouded in controversy. The specifics of his transactions are disputed, with allegations of corruption and bribery at play.

However, one clear issue is the massive debt he's leaving for future generations to inherit. In 2025, Trump reported over $1.4 billion in income from family cryptocurrency ventures, including his $TRUMP meme-coin business, which generated an estimated $672 million in the first half of that year alone.

The problem is that this windfall comes while he's setting government crypto policy, raising questions about conflicts of interest. Meanwhile, investors who bought into $TRUMP near its peak have lost around 97% of their investment.

The Trump administration's fiscal policies are also causing concern. The federal deficit is skyrocketing, with a projected increase to over 6% of GDP for fiscal year 2026. This would be the largest percentage since World War II, outside of the Great Recession and COVID-19 pandemic.
