Trump's Meme Coin Dinner Raises Ethics Concerns as Investors Suffer $4 Billion Loss
The company behind US President Donald Trump's meme coin has launched a competition for participants to attend an exclusive dinner with the president at his Virginia golf club. The top 185 holders of the $TRUMP token, which has lost investors around $4 billion, will be chosen based on a formula designed to increase sales of the meme coin in the next two months. The event, scheduled for November 22, promises an evening with three unidentified 'legends' and Trump, as well as a private meet and greet with a yet-to-be-announced legend.
The dinner is the second exclusive event for holders of Trump's meme coin, which has netted the president at least $635 million. The first event, held last May, was criticized as 'corruption embodied' by ethics experts and critics, who pointed out that the top buyers of the meme coin attended an exclusive dinner at Trump's Virginia golf club and received a VIP tour of the White House.
News of the second dinner sparked similar outcry, with Rep. Greg Landsman (D-Ohio) calling it 'the most exclusive dinner in the world with the most corrupt president in American history.'
