Trump's MSTR Purchases Coincide with 83% Stock Rally
President Donald Trump's financial disclosure has shed light on his investment strategy in MicroStrategy (MSTR) stock. The accounts linked to him bought MSTR shares in late July, with a small purchase worth between $1,001 and $15,000, followed by two larger purchases: one for around $91.67 on July 24 and another for between $50,001 and $100,000 on July 27.
The timing of these purchases is notable as they came when the broader market was near multi-month lows, just before MSTR began a strong recovery. The stock has since climbed roughly 83% to close at $167.33 on September 22, with Bitcoin trading above $86,000.
This significant price increase has drawn renewed attention to MSTR's Bitcoin-linked stock and its potential as a way for investors to gain exposure to the cryptocurrency without directly holding it. Historically, MSTR has amplified Bitcoin rallies by around 2x to 2.5x, making it an attractive option for hedge funds and other institutional investors.
