Trump's Second Term: A Billion-Dollar Bonanza of Corruption
In his second term as President, Donald Trump has amassed an unprecedented fortune of over $2.2 billion in just one year, surpassing even his previous record as a private businessman.
This staggering sum has come from various sources, including a murky crypto venture and numerous foreign real estate deals, with most of the money made in the Middle East but also in India, Ireland, Romania, and Vietnam. Trump has incorporated dozens of new companies since returning to the White House and launched several Trump-branded products, such as Bibles, cologne, gold high-top sneakers, golf shoes, work boots, watches, and guitars.
The president's family has announced at least nine deals worth more than $50 billion since his return to office, including a luxury skyscraper on the Red Sea, an 80-story Trump Tower in Dubai, and golf resorts in Oman and Qatar. Trump's wife, son-in-law Jared Kushner, and other cronies in the administration have also cashed in.
The White House maintains that President Trump only acts in the best interests of the American public, but questions about his focus on personal enrichment rather than public service began before Day One of his second term. The president has used the power of the presidency to pardon three crypto convicts, including a billionaire who helped his family's crypto business and another man serving a double life sentence for using Bitcoin to facilitate sales of heroin, cocaine, and LSD.
Trump continues to mix politics and personal business, often at the same time. He recently used the lavish $400 million jet given to him by the Qatari government to attend a golf tournament in Ireland, where he met with government leaders and sparked an international incident regarding the future of Northern Ireland.
