Trump's Stock Accounts Sold MicroStrategy Before Surging 83%
President Donald Trump's stock accounts sold MicroStrategy shares in June and early July, but then bought back in, just before the company's stock surged by about 83%.
The selling started on June 23 and 24, with combined sales worth $16,002 to $65,000. Two days later, the stock hit its lowest point of the summer at $81.81. Then, the buying began, with a purchase on July 24 worth $1,001 to $15,000, followed by another purchase on July 27 worth $50,001 to $100,000.
The larger July 27 purchase is up about 70% since it was made at a $98.65 close. MicroStrategy had stopped buying Bitcoin in July and its holdings sat at 843,775 BTC while it sold new shares to raise cash.
The Trump Organization claims that outside firms manage the accounts, stating 'Neither President Trump, his family, nor The Trump Organization plays any role in selecting, directing, or approving specific investments.'
