Trump's Strategy Stock Buys Pay Off with 70% Gain
President Donald Trump's financial disclosure has revealed that he bought Strategy stock in July, shortly after it hit its summer low. The purchase of $50,001 to $100,000 worth of Strategy stock on July 27 followed smaller purchases of the same stock and Coinbase shares earlier in the month.
The strategy behind these buys appears to have been successful, as Strategy's stock has climbed roughly 83% since its June low and is up about 70% since the July 27 purchase. The company's stock has also rallied nearly 30% over the past five trading days alone and about 37% over the past month.
The filing also shows that Trump sold $5 million to $25 million each of Microsoft and Amazon stock on July 20, as well as other trades valued between $1 million and $5 million. The White House stated that Trump's portfolio is managed independently by outside financial institutions, but some lawmakers have expressed skepticism about the timing of these trades.
