Trump's Super Intelligence Executive Order Triggers Insider Domain Trading Frenzy
US President Donald Trump's executive order renaming Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Super Intelligence (SI) has sparked allegations of insider domain trading. According to independent journalist Adam Cochran, a spike in '.si' domain name registrations occurred across June and July before the announcement on September 19.
Cochran claims that 12,000 SI domains were registered before the announcement, with AI- and MAGA-related .si domains being bought for tens of thousands of dollars and then listed for millions. The re-listed domain 'Build.si' is currently offered for over $14 million.
Cochran believes that insiders linked to the Trump administration used their knowledge of the executive order to buy up SI domains, which will likely increase in value as federal agencies and AI tech companies purchase them to appease Trump. This comes after Trump met with top tech executives, including Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, for an AI summit where they signed a 'morally binding' accord on AI safety.
The executive order claims that the term 'AI' is outdated and no longer accurately represents the capabilities of modern technology, which can 'amplify human ingenuity and unlock new forms of creativity.' As a result, the US government will no longer acknowledge AI, suggesting that companies like OpenAI may rebrand themselves as well.
