Trump's Truth Social Plan Sparks Controversy Over Pay-to-Play Access
President Trump's plan to offer early access to his Truth Social posts in exchange for hefty monthly fees has sparked controversy on Wall Street and among Republican lawmakers.
The proposal, unveiled by Truth Social's parent company, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), involves charging users as much as $100,000 per month for faster access to the president's posts. A discounted plan of $60,000 a month was also discussed, provided users commit to signing up for three years.
However, critics argue that this could create a 'pay-to-play' environment, where those with deep pockets have an unfair advantage in accessing information. GOP Senator Lisa Murkowski described the idea as 'wild,' stating that 'everything comes down to pay for play.'
Senator Thom Tillis also weighed in, referencing his own humble upbringing and expressing concern about how this plan may impact ordinary people.
