TTWO Stock Tumbles Amid GTA 6 Gameplay Leak Concerns
Take-Two Interactive's stock price plummeted from $248 to the low $230s after unauthorized Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay videos emerged online. The leak, attributed to an account called 'CyberLeek', showed active gameplay sequences and potentially compromised a functional version of the game before its November 19 release date.
The stock's decline erased approximately $2.8 billion in valuation, with some of that loss recovering to around $240 per share. As part of their response, Take-Two submitted DMCA-based subpoenas targeting Microsoft and Discord, seeking documentation on user accounts involved in distributing the unauthorized footage.
Rockstar Games confirmed an official GTA 6 showcase will stream on Netflix on August 27 at 3 p.m. ET. Meanwhile, 'CyberLeek' has been monetizing his leaked content with paid 'in-video ads' and 'custom-made gameplay footage', reportedly seeking over $164,000 in cryptocurrency.
Experts have expressed concern about the potential security threats associated with this breach, particularly regarding malicious software found in counterfeit GTA 6 downloads circulating on unauthorized platforms. No authenticated public distribution of any functional version exists, making these files potentially hazardous to players.
