Turnstile's Eclectic All-Stars Unite for 'VERSIONS' Compilation Album
Turnstile's new compilation album 'VERSIONS' brings together an eclectic mix of artists to reinterpret their critically acclaimed 2025 LP 'NEVER ENOUGH'. The Baltimore hardcore outfit has gathered a diverse range of acts, from metal icons Dying Fetus to pop legend Elton John, to record and perform their own unique versions of the original songs.
The result is a near two-hour long album featuring 22 unique versions of the original 14 tracks. Each artist brings an entirely new spin to Turnstile's material, resulting in a rollercoaster of vibes changes that keep listeners engaged.
A standout performance from Faye Webster on 'I CARE' and Mustafa and Julien Baker on 'TIME IS HAPPENING' showcases the potential of this concept. However, some remix versions feel like unnecessary bloat compared to the more intentional performance-driven covers.
The release raises questions about whether all-star compilation albums are becoming a trend in the rock space. Metallica's 2021 anniversary album 'The Metallica Blacklist' may have inspired Turnstile to do something similar with 'VERSIONS', which offers a unique and more substantive twist on a special edition re-release.
