tZERO Secures Funding Round Led by Marc and Max Cohodes Amid Strategic Expansion
tZERO Group, Inc. has announced a funding round led by Marc and Max Cohodes, with participation from Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), Bill Fleckenstein, Dinari, Inc., and other investors. The company did not disclose the size of the round in its announcement.
According to tZERO's CEO Alan Konevsky, the funding supports operations and execution as the company works to position itself for capital independence and to commercialize and expand infrastructure for tokenized financial markets.
The financing is part of a broader long-term capital plan as tZERO works toward a strategic transaction intended to support the next phase of growth and long-term capital stability. Neighborhood Intelligence has committed to support the round, but its portion will only be funded when tZERO announces a binding agreement on a strategic transaction such as a change of control, sale of substantially all assets, or merger with a SPAC or another entity.
Marc Cohodes, lead investor, said this is his third investment in tZERO over the past eight years and that he believes the company has a robust pipeline for infrastructure services with institutional clients. Participants share an interest in tZERO's longer-term development and opportunities in tokenized and other derivatives, prediction markets, and spot crypto infrastructure-as-a-service.
