U.S. Bank Completes Cross-Border Stablecoin Transfer on Stellar's Public Blockchain
A major U.S. bank has successfully transferred its own stablecoin between North America and Europe on Stellar's public blockchain, marking one of the most significant institutional validations yet for the network behind the XLM token.
The pilot involved testing minting, redemption, freezing capabilities, clawbacks, and compliance controls that regulated financial institutions require before using public blockchain infrastructure. This is a significant development because U.S. Bank chose Stellar rather than a private or permissioned network.
MoneyGram International has also launched a Visa-compatible payment card in Colombia that uses USDC loaded onto Stellar's blockchain. The product, called the MoneyGram Card, allows users to spend stablecoin balances anywhere Visa is accepted.
