U.S. Students Overwhelmingly Want Crypto Education, But Universities Fall Short
A recent survey of U.S. college students and parents has revealed that nearly all students (90%) and over four-fifths of parents (87%) want universities to offer education on cryptocurrency and blockchain.
The study, commissioned by OKX, found that many respondents believe this education should be mandatory - 27% of students and 32% of parents support making it a compulsory part of the curriculum.
However, university curricula are not keeping pace with demand: as of 2025, only about 28% of accredited U.S. universities with certified business schools offered blockchain courses.
This education gap is leading students to seek out information on cryptocurrency and blockchain from unofficial channels - 33% of student respondents said they mainly get crypto-related information through social media and influencers, compared to around 6-7% who cited schools or teachers as their main source.
