UAE Digital Bank Zand Integrates USDC, Plans Dirham-Pegged Stablecoin
Zand Bank, a digital bank in the United Arab Emirates, has integrated USDC (USD Coin) into its payment infrastructure. This move aligns with the UAE's push to become a global hub for digital finance.
The integration of USDC enables Zand customers to hold and transact in a major dollar-pegged stablecoin without leaving the bank's ecosystem. This is particularly relevant for businesses engaged in international trade, remittances, and treasury operations, where stablecoins offer faster settlement and lower costs compared to traditional banking rails.
Zand has also announced plans to introduce AEDZ, a stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the UAE dirham. The goal is to provide a stable, transparent digital representation of the national currency that can be used for instant settlements, both within the UAE and across borders.
